MS Spotlight: Palmer Kippola

Against the diagnosis and grim outlook provided by her neurologist at age 19, she is now thriving, symptom and medication-free. But it wasn’t always this way.

This is the third installment and you may have heard of this woman, her name is Palmer Kippola. One day in August of 1984 Palmer woke up with a tingling feeling her feet and rose up to her chest. Palmer was later told by her Neurologist that “I’m 99% sure you have Multiple Sclerosis and there is nothing we can do” (glad to see with the billions of dollars spent on research that we are making progress… NOT).

The first 15 years of Palmer’s MS journey were marked by significant episodes of symptoms every 2–4 years, ranging from similar tingling and numbness to profound fatigue and searingly painful optic neuritis that landed Palmer in the hospital 3 times in two weeks.  During the last 15 years, Palmer has been on a steadily improving course. Effective stress-reduction techniques definitely helped Palmer, as did removing sugar; but what made the biggest difference was giving up gluten and dairy in 2010. Since then

Palmer has been completely symptom-free and, finally, medication-free.

Palmer believes it was a combination of good luck plus right efforts. For Palmer, the main thing is that both luck and effort matter 100%. Palmer is thankful for good fortune and she believes she is 100% responsible for being proactive with her health and wellbeing.

Soon after her MS diagnosis Palmer dove into the journey of self-healing and hasn’t stopped since. In addition to educating herself with reading leading-edge research and information on mental, emotional, physical, and spiritual health she has accomplished so much.

When Palmer’s not learning, writing, collaborating or speaking about finding freedom from autoimmune conditions, she might be found doing yoga, hiking in the hills, doing HIIT workouts, connecting with friends and family, cooking healthy meals and laughing as much as possible.
